Breast Cancer Awareness Month was created to remind women to have regular breast examinations and mammograms to detect breast cancer as early as possible to improve chances of treatment success and survival.
For nearly forty years, Americans have recognized October as a month devoted to educating everyone about breast cancer, the importance of early detection and access to timely, high-quality care.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women, other than skin cancer. Mammograms remain the best way to find breast cancer early when it is easiest to treat. While men can also get breast cancer, it is not very common. Most breast cancers are found in women who are 50 years or older, but breast cancer also occurs in younger women.
To support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Law Office of Justin Frankel is proud to donate to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Foundation, one of the leading providers of cancer care in the New York metropolitan region.
